Low Floor Buses
Easyride Low Floor buses now operate throughout our main network of
bus services. These buses are fully accessible to
all, with no steps at the entrance and a flat floor for the
much of the bus. These are designed so that pushchairs, prams and wheelchairs can be manoeuvred onboard allowing
everyone
to travel. These are also appreciated by our elderly travellers and the less mobile who find
the step-free access ideal. Inside the buses there are special bays where wheelchair users can park safely whilst they travel.
Easyride buses also feature high-visibility, non
slip handrails, ideal for the partially sighted.
Easyride buses have been designed to improve the
quality of service we provide to everyone. Most feature upholstered individual seating, increasing the
comfort level, particularly for longer journeys and the buses are designed to be light and airy
with electric lighting to
the highest standards .
Also featured is
CCTV equipment
throughout, improving
onboard safety for all passengers.
Our most
recent Easyride buses have been to a smaller specification and have
been introduced to more routes in the Rossendale, Bury &
Rochdale areas. Being smaller, these buses are more manoeuvrable and have
allowed us to introduce their quality features into new areas. We have now
been able to extend the
quality Easyride service onto rural
routes and housing estates, where the previously larger low floor buses were
unable to reach.
Under normal circumstances, we aim to provide Easyride low floor buses on
all services part of our main network of routes. This excludes a few, mainly
schoolday journeys and additional schoolday services provided outside our
main network. In emergencies, it is sometimes necessary to operate a
step-entrance bus due to bus breakdowns and the like, however we will
endeavour to replace such a bus with a low floor bus at the earliest
opportunity.
Our business plan and fleet replacement policy detail the purchase of
further low floor buses throughout the next few years and we aim to have all
buses in our fleet to this specification well in advance of the 2015
deadline as set by DDA regulations.
