A single fare is the fare for a one-way journey, purchased from the driver when you board the bus. You can buy a single ticket from the stop where you board to any other stop on the same bus route, and through Single Fares are also available to some other points on selected routes.

A single fare is the fare that the bus driver will automatically charge if you do not request any other type of ticket, or present a pre-purchased ticket, a discount pass or permit.

Day return tickets are available on service X46 between Rochdale and Manchester at the introductory price of £2.00

Fares for Children

Under Five's

Children aged under 5 travel free.

Aged 5 to 15 inclusive
As a company, we offer discounted travel to children aged 5 to 15 inclusive. Normally discounted return fares are not  available to children unless specified otherwise. Further discounts are available to children travelling at off-peak times allowing them to travel further for less.

Upon reaching secondary school age, children are advised to carry an Under 16's ID card in order to prove their age to drivers and therefore claim the discounted fare. Drivers will charge the normal adult fare to persons they suspect to be over the age of 15. These cards are available from our offices at 35 Bacup Road, Rawtenstall and at GMPTE travelshops. A valid birth certificate and passport sized photograph (to include on the pass) are all that is required to claim an identity card. No fee is charged.

Discounted Weekly Rover tickets are available to children in possession of an Under 16's ID card.

Within Greater Manchester however, children travel at the 'flat' concessionary rate,(currently 70p), regardless of the length of the journey. These fares are subsidised by GMPTE. This applies to journeys made which are  wholly within the Greater Manchester Concessionary area.

Fares for Dogs

Guide Dogs for The Blind, Hearing Dogs for the Deaf, and dogs registered as Assistance Dogs are carried Free of Charge at all times. Such dogs are also carried free when under training.

Other dogs may be carried at the discretion of the bus driver, at a flat rate charge of 90p per individual journey made. From 11th May 2008 this will increase to £1.00

Other small domestic animals, in enclosed boxes or containers, are carried free, again at the discretion of the bus driver.
