How to use our Services

Before You Travel

Please check the timetable carefully to choose the journey you wish to use.

Ensure though that you are at the bus stop in good time and allow additional time for your journey in order to take account of any traffic delays along the way.

At the Bus Stop

As the bus approaches please give a clear signal that you wish the bus to stop. This avoids any confusion that you may be waiting for a different service.

As you board the bus

Please state your destination clearly to the driver, along with the type of ticket you require, our driver will be able to advise you if you are uncertain. Ensure that the driver knows the exact stop where you wish to alight.

If you already know the fare, or when you are advised what it is, it will help if you can tender the exact fare. If a large amount of change has to be given this takes time, causing delays, and the driver may not always have sufficient change.

If you have a travel pass or permit that entitles you to a discount, show it to the driver as you state your destination. This will avoid the possibility of the driver issuing the wrong value ticket.

Check that you receive the type of ticket you requested, and for the correct number of people that you are paying for, and check your change immediately, as mistakes cannot be rectified later. Keep your ticket with you until you have completed your journeys  and make it available for inspection by a transport official if required.

If you are already in possession of a ticket you purchased previously, for example a return or rover ticket, please ensure you present it to the driver so that it can be checked.

On the journey

Please take a seat or, if standing, move as far down the aisle as possible and tightly hold onto one of the handrails provided.

For the safety and comfort of all our customers smoking is not permitted anywhere on our buses.

Hot take-away food, and drink in cans or cartons, may not be consumed on the bus.

To avoid upsetting other passengers please keep the use of mobile phones to a minimum whilst travelling, and keep personal stereos strictly personal.

Seat Belts

In line with The Motor Vehicles (Wearing of Seatbelts) Regulations 2006, where seatbelts are provided, they should be worn at all times. Vehicles fitted with seatbelts will display the pictogram shown here. Passengers are advised that a fixed penalty fine can be imposed on anyone who fails to wear their seatbelt. Young children travelling on an parents lap, only the parent should wear the seatbelt.

Approaching your Destination

As the bus approaches the stop where you wish to get off, press the bell once, and then remain seated (or stood still) until the bus stops.

When leaving the bus please ensure that you take all your personal possessions with you, and please take your litter away with you.

After your Journey

We welcome all comments and suggestions about our services, and we always respond to criticisms, failures, and constructive suggestions.

If you have left anything on one of our buses, if found, it will be taken one of our depots at either Rawtenstall or Rochdale, and kept there for up to one month.
