Events will be taking place in the Rossendale area, including the Rossendale Food Festival, Rossendale Mela and Rossendale Rural Fair. Click Here for the Rossendale Weekend Website Rossendale Transport is providing transport to and from the events taking place during the course of the weekend Saturday 23rd June 2007 - Rossendale Food Festival 9am to 4pm Rossendale Food Festival is on Saturday 23rd June on and around the Market at Rawtenstall. Food to tickle your taste buds! The Festival showcases food available in and around Rossendale, with a selection of fabulous foodstalls, showcasing produce available in and around Rossendale. There will also be a traditional hog roast and cookery demonstrations with Philippa James. These stalls will complementing what's on offer from Rawtenstall's famous traditional market and the renowned local shops, the Food Festival will run from 9.00am to 4.00 p.m. A free bus service is being provided for people arriving by train at the East Lancashire Railway Station in Rawtenstall to Rawtenstall Market and Marl Pits Sports Complex for the Rossendale Mela. Click Here for Information Saturday 23rd June 2007 - Rossendale Mela 1pm to 6pm Also on Saturday 23rd June is The Rossendale Mela, an annual community festival celebrating the diverse community of Rossendale. This will feature music, dance, stalls and children's entertainment and lest not forget the mouth watering food! Marl Pits Sports Centre can be reached using Rossendale Transport bus services 482 and 483 and is located approximately midway between Rawtenstall and Newchurch. Click Here for Timetable Sunday 24th June 2007 - Rossendale Rural Fair 11am to 5pm At this years Rural Fair, a group of marauding Vikings and Saxons will be encamped on Marl Pits, although we are assured that they come in Peace! Their trading settlement will show just how they worked, dressed and lived in days gone by, with demonstrations of cooking on an enclosed firebox hearth, bone carving and working, wood turning, shamanic rune reading, Viking coin making, butter making and much more!
